Dr. Tammy Hersch, OD
Dr. Tammy Hersch earned her Associate of Science degree from Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD and her Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology degree from the University Of Mary in Bismarck, ND. She then received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon in 1993. Upon graduation she opened her optometric practice in Spearfish where she has been enjoying her profession since 1993.
She is a full scope practitioner and likes all aspects of optometry. She enjoys patients of all ages from birth to geriatrics and takes a special interest in treating ocular diseases such as dry eyes, glaucoma, diabetes and macular degeneration management, co management of cataract and LASIK surgery patients, eye injuries and foreign body removal.
Dr. Hersch lives in Spearfish with her husband Patrick. They have two children and one grandchild. They enjoy hiking, biking, skiing and being grandparents.

Pat Hersch, Office Manager
Along with Dr. Hersch, Pat has been with Family Optical since 1997. With many years of optical experience comes great knowledge, ensuring that the office is running smoothly. Pat wears many hats, from eyewear selection and repairs to all around handy-man. You are sure to be greeted with a smile no matter the task, big or small! In his free time, Pat enjoys skiing, hiking, golfing and spending quality time with his wife, two children and granddaughter.
Christi, Optician
Christi has been with Family Optical since 2018. She is very knowledgeable in insurance and billing, as well as meeting with frame representatives to keep our frame boards filled with the most updated styles. In her spare time, Christi enjoys spending time with her family and two grandchildren as well as crafting!
Lexi, Optician
Lexi has been with Family Optical since January 2023. She excels in pre-screening patients and helping with frame selection. Originally from east river, she loves everything the Black Hills have to offer from snowmobiling to side by side riding. Lexi enjoys spending her free time with her husband and their 2 dogs. She also enjoys gardening and finding the best deals at the second hand store.
